Put on by the fabulous Viva Valezz, you'll see the best of Ohio Burlesque, featuring burlesque hotties from all over the state. Originally from Columbus,award-winning headliner Clams Casino is an act you certainly won't want to miss. Clams is part of the super hot New York Burlesque scene and you shouldn't miss this rare opportunity.

We're Back!

Actually, we never went anywhere, but I, Dolly Derringer, became lazy apparently and didn't even post anything about our latest show we just wrapped. I want to give a huge thank you to my lovely ladies who performed in our hugely successful Spring Tease at the Union.

To the wonderful Syrenka, Arizona Fury, Vicki Von Doom, Priscilla Swift, Minxy Bootle and Kitty Couture, you are all incredible, you worked your asses off and it showed!

To the fabulously funny emcees The Russian and The Penguin. I love you both and thank you for making asses of yourself on stage.

So now what's next? Well, we're gearing up for our next performance: The Boxcar Burlesque Birthday Bash!! We will be celebrating our one year anniversary and we're very excited to have some our our favorite seasoned performers as well as several newcomers. Tassel Class Rescheduled!

I am happy to announce that we have rescheduled the Pastie Making and Tassel Twirling CLass for Sunday March 14th from 3-6pm at the Sul Galleria on the square in Nelsonville.

Students will learn how to make, apply, and use tasselled pasties. You will learn several techniques for twirling and come away from the day with your own pair of pasties to surprise that special someone.

Dolly will lead a Burlesque class where you’ll learn some basic burlesque choreography and demonstrate how to twirl your new tassels like a pro! Clockwise! Opposite directions! One at a time! You won’t want to stop!

This is class is LADIES ONLY so bring your girlfriends, and learn fun twirling techniques in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Women of all sizes, shapes and ages are welcome and encouraged - no experience necessary, must be 18 years of age. Valentine's Day Spectacular!

The ladies of Boxcar Burlesque present their Valentine's Day spectacular, Cupid's Revue, Friday February 12 at the Union.

Bring your friends, bring your lover, come out for an evening thats sure to heat up this chilly weather. Featuring performances by Dolly Derringer, Ginger Snap, Syrenka and Juicy Caboosey. The show will also feature a sneak peek inside Eros School of Archery, with Headmistress Derringer and her students Ginger Honey, Devi Sensimilia, Kitty Couture, Minxy Bootle and Arizona Fury.

Doors open at 10pm. Come have fun in the famous Boxcar Photo Booth, enjoy some sweet treats, check out burlesque fashions from Hot Box Couture and mingle with the Eye Candy Girls. They'll tell you all about Terri Jean's Photo Studio, and share with you how you you can schedule your own photo shoot, a perfect gift for that special someone. And the lovely bartenders at the Union are working up a special Boxcar Martini Menu just for our event!

Athens newest favorite band The Holly Grahams will open the night. This hot all lady band features members of The Never Evers and Wheels on Fire.

Pastie Making Workshop Cancelled Today

Well ladies, due to a level two snow emergency in Athens County, todays workshop will be cancelled. I will be rescheduling the workshop soon, but I regret to say, it probably won't happen before Valentine's Day.

Boxcar Burlesque will be presenting it's first annual Cupid's Revue on Friday February 12, 2010 at the Union. Things are really starting to heat up around here and our own little cupid is drawing back her bow looking for some new ladies to shake it with us. We are also proud to announce our upcoming Pastie Making and Tassel Twirling Workshop on Saturday February 6, 2010 from 12-4pm at the Sul Galleria in Nelsonville. Just in time for Valentine's Day, you'll come away from the day with a pair of your very own hand made pasties to surprise your special someone, as well as some hot moves to really spice things up. Sign up soon as space is limited! The workshop fee is $20 and includes supplies, lunch and instruction on how to use your new adornments as well a little basic burlesque choreography.

Bettie Page Tribute Night a Big Success!!

Thanks to everyone who came out for our first show: the Bettie Page Tribute Night. Boxcar's ladies Dolly Derringer, Ginger Snap and Syrenka performed in front of a packed house. We showed of Bettie's classic films, and although in the future I think we need a bigger screen, they were well received.

Terri Jean and her Eye Candy Girls came out and schmoozed with the audience. Terri took some awesome photos (photos shown here by Terri Jean) and I can't wait to meet up with here to view them all. Thanks ladies, we loved having you there!

Thanks to our emcee Lola Apocalypstick who looked fabulous and helped raffle of the prizes from our sponsors O'Betty's, Passionate Kisses, the Smiling Skull Saloon, Haffas Records and Athens Underground.

I'm still eating leftover cheesecake and I now have to replenish the inventory of fascinators and pasties for Hot Box Couture! So many ladies came out and signed up for workshops-- dates coming soon I promise!

We are 3 days out and couldn't be more excited! Here's what's new:

Terri Jean of Terri Jean Photo Studio in Nelsonville will have her work on display at our event this Friday. If you are unfamiliar with her work, she is well known locally for her pin-up and boudoir photography. She will have a table set up and her models, The Eye Candy Girls will be in out in style to party with us. Come out and meet these lovely ladies!

Don't forget to stop in for the early show at O'Betty's on Friday. We will have dinner a movie at 7pm so get there early to get a good seat and a good meal!

Bettie Page Tribute Night

It's nearly one week away- Boxcar Burlesque's Tribute to Bettie Page!!

Come out with us and spend your Friday night honoring pin-up legend Bettie Page. The evening will start out at O'Betty's with a screening of the documentary "Bettie Page: The Girl in the Leopard Print Bikini" Come get a hot dog and learn a little Bettie history. Tour the hot dog museum and see the wall of Bettie -- Bob has a great collection of Bettie Pin-ups!

After you've digested, head over to The Union where the evening starts to heat up! We'll be screening several of Irving Klaw's classic Bettie Page films, featuring early black and white silent films and Bettie in full technicolor from the burlesque compilation Teasearama.

The ladies of Boxcar Burlesque will be paying tribute the the late Miss Page with live burlesque performances by Dolly Derringer, Ginger Snap, Syrenka and more!

There will be Bettie art on display and great door prizes from local businesses. Come out in style (Bettie style if you'd like) and have fun with your friends in our Pin-Up Photo Booth. Hot Box Couture will have burlesque fashion items on display and for sale. And of course we can't forget: Cheesecake!! As Bettie is the queen of cheesecake, we'll be having delicious treats made by Piper.

IT"S OFFICIAL!! The Bettie Page Tribute Night will take place at The Union on Friday, December 11, the one year anniversary of the pin-up queen's death.

The event will feature The Best of Bettie, a screening of several of her classic films, live burlesque performances from the ladies of Boxcar Burlesque, live music, raffles and door prizes, including the Bettie Page look alike contest, art show, food and more!!

Boxcar is going to represent at BurlyCon in Seattle this fall. Shit flights are cheap! Just bought round trip airfare for $160... so I'll be packin my vintage finest, heels and feathers and networking with the best. BurlyCon is an incrediblly unique weekend because there are no preformances.

Completely focused on education, I will be taking classes from the likes of Michelle L'Amour, Indigo Blue, Peekaboo Pointe, Jo Boobs, Lux La Croix and Dr. Lukki. Not to mention meeting ladies from from the midwest and the rest of the country.

Looking forward to seeing ladies I met in Vegas, meeting new friends and taking classes classes classes!!

Boxcar to Perform at O'Betty's Hot Dog Derby

So it's that time of year again- and this time it's number FIVE!! That's right, the fifth annual O'Betty's Red Hot Dog Derby is this Thursday August 13th at Jackie O's. If you love eating contests- wait til you see folks shove hot dogs down by the handfuls. Boxcar will be performing an opening act after the contestants are announced. Be prepared for some Red Hot fun around 2:00pm. The hot dog derby will commence after burlesque, and after everyones stomach's have neutralized, its over to the fair grounds for the Demolition Derby. No doubt, Terry Gilke will have the O'Betty's Red Hot Rod on the track. Just when you thought your night would end with fried food and a ferris wheel, don't forget Rock and Roll Karaoke at Casa with my friend Nate Ebert. That's right, Casa is back open after the annual week long wax down of wood and bar ware. Come buy me some gin cause I'm gonna need it. What a night!!!

Debut Performance of Boxcar Burlesque Tonight!

Boxcar Burlesque, Athens first burlesque troupe, will be performing live on stage tonight for Rock 'N' Roll Karaoke's Midnight Madness. As part of the Bastille Day Birthday Bash, the troupe will be giving a sneak peak of performances, including a Pirate themed duet and a solo performance. Live musical interlude by the lovely Emily Cline. It's sure to be a knockout so don't miss it.

I just bought my tickets for the Burlesque Hall of Fame Weekend and Miss Exotic World Pagent in fabulous Las Vegas!! It's coming up soon here: June 4-8.

Going to be seeing the likes of legends Dixie Evans and Satan's Angel, no to mention the countless vixens of modern burlesque, including Miss Exotic World 2005 Michelle L'Amour, Julie Atlas Muz, Dirty Martini, oooh, way too many to mention.

I'm excited to be rooming with some fabulous ladies from Knoxville, Tennessee, The Fister Sisters.
I'll be sure to post pictures and stories from the weekend. Anyone still interested in coming should email me soon!

Workshop with Michelle L'Amour in Dayton

I received a message on my voice mail today that Kira's Oasis in Dayton is putting on VIP6 on Saturday April 25th!!

The workshop is all day and includes a morning the Fister Sisters out of Knoxville and the afternoon with Miss Michelle L'Amour!! The evening ends with a knockout performance. Ladies, I have been to Michelle's workshop here every year and I can testify- it can't be missed.

Clothing Swap Fundraiser!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are getting the ball rolling once again!

It's time to clean out your wardrobe, and then fill it up again! We are holding a Clothing Swap on Saturday January 31st from 1:00-4:00pm to raise funds for Athens Burlesque.

Bring your friends and bring your clothes, it's sure to be a hoot!

The event takes place at ARTS/West and is $5.00 at the door. We're hoping to get some live music to entertain the swappers and refreshments will be provided. Door prizes from local Athens businesses will be announced at half hour intervals. Don't miss it!
